Lesson 1 of 4 · 23 min
What do I do with my grief?
Permission to grieve honestly instead of rushing to be fine.
Background for this lesson
Grief is frequently hurried, mostly by the people around it. Within weeks a grieving person learns which answers keep a conversation short, and begins giving those answers instead of true ones.
Scripture does not hurry grief. Jesus wept at a grave he was about to open, which means sorrow is not a lack of faith and comfort is not the same as speed. There is a time to mourn, and it is longer than most schedules allow.
This first lesson gives grief its proper room: what you have lost, what changed, and what you have not been allowed to say.
